Better skin through better air!
Very often, in
the search for better health, the most obvious things are overlooked.
To really make a
difference to the long term health of our skin, we need to go back
to fundamentals. The single most important factor for our skin and,
indeed for our general health & well-being is
the air we breathe.
Improving the quality
of the air around s can have astounding effects. Psoriasis is known
to be an immune-related condition and therefore everything we can
possibly do to improve our immunity can have a positive impact.
All around us we
are subjected to pathogens emitted from common items such as carpets,
household electrical items, paint, pets, chemical sprays, smoke...not
to mention pollen, dust, viruses and bacteria. Many of these are
invisible to the naked eye but many can actually be seen floating
around when the sun's rays shine in to a room.
What if there was
a way to effectively remove 99.9% of all those pathogens? What if
there was a way to completely change the quality of the air in the
home and office to the same quality of air we would breathe if we
were sitting next to a mountain waterfall? How would it affect your
health?
We have researched
this and come up with very exciting findings:
1. The air we breathe
can be completely transformed immediately using two processes:
(a) Anion - Anions are also called Negative Ions. They help balance
serotonin in the body, and this explains why people tend to feel
more alert, stable and energized in the presence of negative ions.
Anion air purification systems work through an atomic or molecular
system, creating an excess negative charge due to the capture of
additional electrons. Anion systems effectively kill bacteria, viruses,
and germs, and they also neutralise pollutants.
(b) Ozone - Ozone is a form of oxygen that has three atoms per molecule
rather than two atoms found in oxygen; and it can effectively oxidize.
Its oxidization is applied generally to sterilize, eliminate bacteria,
remove toxic smells and discompose organic substances. Furthermore,
it will deoxidize to oxygen after sterilization, so it won't leave
any remains and cause second pollution.
Either or both of
these processes are used in many Air Ionisers. According to Dr Kevin
Kerr, lead clinical microbiologist at the University of Leeds, Ionisers
may be an important key to preventing - not just allergies but also
infections.
In a study conducted
at the University, testing the effectiveness of Ionic air purification
systems Dr Kerr concluded:
"Acinetobacter
infections are very difficult to treat as the bacterium is resistant
to nearly all antibiotics, so prevention of these infections is
of key importance. Ionisers may become a powerful weapon in the
fight against hospital-acquired infection."
In a year long trial,
the researchers, from the aerobiological research group in the University's
school of civil engineering, monitored the normal situation in the
unit, taking samples from surfaces, patients and from the air to
monitor bacteria levels, and logging the number of patient infections.
During the first six months the ionisers were switched off and in
the second half of the year-long trial, the ionisers were switched
on. The results were impressive: infections due to acinetobacter
reduced dramatically.
