Acupuncture has been
shown to be one of the most effective Alternative Therapies for
the treatment of Psoriasis with success rates in controlled studies
shown to be over 72%.* Researchers have now developed a Home Treatment
device specifically for Psoriasis sufferers which utilises Acupuncture
principles and enables users to obtain the benefits of Acupuncture
with NO needles and for a fraction of the cost of a course of treatment.
The
NEW Psoriasis Home Treatment Device from China is one of
the most interesting new home treatment devices we have seen. It
is a VERY exciting as it is portable, safe and easy-to-use. It has
been shown to be VERY effective in clinical trials conducted in
China and it has repeatedly sold out in Russia.
The device is a light
handheld unit powered by batteries and, the manufacturers claim
that not only does it help eliminate psoriasis lesions but that
it also stops itching.
We obtained a few
units and they look well built and are very easy to use. They do
seem to stop itching and the feedback responses by testers have
all been very positive.
There were only a
few areas of negative feedback:
i. the unit emits
an electro-magnetic pulse that gives off a 'tingling' sensation.
Whilst not unpleasant, this is not as comfortable as, say, using
the Handheld
UV Photon Therapy Lamp which is warm and pleasant to use.
ii. the testers all
felt that the skin still needs a good moisturiser during the course
of tratment as the Acu-Device does not hydrate the skin. We would,
of course, recommend that M-Folia Ointment &/or Cream and this
should also speed up the treatment process.
iii. There are two
ways that the Device can be used - directly onto Psoriasis lesions
and also on specific Acupuncture points (recommended when the whole
body is affected). Whilst it as relatively simple for testers to
use the Device directly on to Psoriasis lesions, some testers were
not always sure that they were finding and treating the exact Acupuncture
points.
We spoke to Acupuncturists
as well as the manufacturers about this and it is a common issue
with all home acupuncture treatments. However, we were informed
that the points are very straightforward to find and that you could
be 2 inches away and still affect the Acupoint.
RESEARCH
We looked at the
research and it does indeed look very impressive. Standard course
of Acupuncture treatments has been shown to help 61% of Psoriasis
sufferers*.
However, in its own
small Clinical Study involving 50 Psoriasis patients, this new Psoriasis
Treatment Acudevice was shown to help 96% of users who aid it was
'effective', and a significant proportion of those reported that
it was 'very effective'.
It seems that the
device would be particularly suitable for:
a. people who suffer
from accompanying itching as the device stops the itching very quickly.
b. stubborn, chronic
plaque Psoriasis
Verdict
We like the simplicity
of the new Psoriasis Therapy AcuDevice. The research was compelling.
The device has been very successful in Russia and results of a clinical
trial in China showed that 96% of users said it helped them.
All of our testers
were very impressed with the device. It can used alone or in conjunction
with other treatments. However, it is advisable to consult your
doctor or health professional if you are currently undoing any form
of treatment prior to using the Psoriasis Therapy AcuDevice.
The product will
be officially launched in the New Year but we are pleased to say
that we have a limited number of these new devices arriving next
week. Most have been pre-sold but we have some available for purchase.
Click on the video links below and then on the 'play' button for more information. Please note that the AcuDevice does NOT emit a light but rather an electro-magnetic pulse that gives a slight tingling sensation.

Abstract: Researchers treated 61 cases of psoriasis with acupuncture,
including 25 patients with complications of joint involvement and
two cases with scleroderma additionally. All of the patients had
failed to respond to their prior conventional western medical management.
25 patients were males and 36 were females. Their ages ranged from
22 to 84 years, with an average of about 52 years. There was no
significant difference of the average ages between the sexes. Most
of them (about 61%) had quite extensive involvement of the body.
The average of duration of their illness was over 16 years, ranging
from two to 65 years.
They received an average of about nine sessions of acupuncture
treatment, ranging from one to 15. Almost one third (19) of them
had eleven to thirteen sessions.
With the acupuncture treatment, about one-half (30) of the 61 patients
had complete or almost complete clearance of the skin lesions. About
a quarter (14 patients) of them had a clearance of about two thirds
of the skin lesions. Eight of them had a clearance of one third
of the skin lesions. Nine patients had minimal or no improvement.
Our experience indicates that acupuncture is an effective therapeutic
modality for psoriasis, particularly when the western medical management
is unsuccessful. We speculated about the possible involvement of
the cutaneous reticuloendothelial system in the clearance of the
skin lesions.
